About

Built by car people who kept seeing the same loss

Watch enough collector cars change hands and a pattern emerges: the car with the folder outsells the car with the story.

Not because the folder is magic — because a buyer bidding real money on a thirty-, forty-, fifty-year-old machine is really bidding on certainty. The documented car answers its own questions. The undocumented car — however honest its seller, however good the work — asks the buyer to guess. And guesses are always priced conservatively.

Meanwhile, the records themselves live in the worst possible places: a glovebox envelope, a dead phone’s photo roll, an email thread from two addresses ago, a shop that closed in 2019. And the standard history reports, built from shop- and insurer-reported data, are structurally blind to the work owners do themselves — which, in the collector world, is a huge share of the work that matters.

Asset Vault started as the fix we wanted for our own cars: one record system, kept by the owner, organized the way auction buyers and insurers actually evaluate a car. Build sheet. Ownership chain. Service and DIY history — including the work nobody else ever logged. Receipts and parts provenance. The photos, taken on purpose. And when sale day comes, a packet that assembles in one pass instead of one desperate weekend.

What we believe

  • Your records belong to you. The pack is files in your custody, not documents held hostage in someone else’s cloud.
  • Documentation is part of the car’s value. Hagerty’s valuation guidance says documented cars justify stronger prices. We agree — and we think the file should be built like it.
  • No hype. We will never promise a record file adds a specific dollar figure to your sale. It removes the discount buyers apply to uncertainty — how much that’s worth is your market’s call, made with your evidence in front of them.
  • Honest gaps beat invented history. The system is built to mark what’s missing, not paper over it. A file that admits a gap is worth more than a story that hides one.

What Asset Vault is not

Asset Vault is a documentation toolkit. It is not a vehicle history report, not an appraisal or valuation service, not an insurance product, and not an auction house. Those services have their place — our job is to make sure that when you meet them, you arrive with the file your car deserves.

The Sale-Ready Vault Pack is the first product. The hosted Garage Vault for multi-car owners is in development. Both exist for one reason: so the next time a great car sells, its story sells with it.
